How the VO2 Test Works
You will wear a heart rate strap and face mask connected to the CardioCoach machine.
A trainer will guide you through the test, which lasts between 6 to 20 minutes and involves using a treadmill, stationary bike, or stair stepper at varying intensity levels.
The CardioCoach machine will indicate when the test is over and provide a comprehensive report that includes your VO2 max, peak oxygen consumption, anaerobic threshold, and target intensity zones.
How the Resting Metabolic Test Works
You’ll slowly relax and breathe into the KORR Metabreather mouthpiece in either a reclined or seated position. When you breathe into the machine, it uses an analyzer to measure your resting metabolic rate.
During the test, it’s important to keep your lips tightly sealed around the mouthpiece to ensure accuracy.
After 10 minutes of slow, relaxed breathing, the machine will display your metabolic rate.
Preparing for Metabolic Testing
For the exercise metabolic test (VO2 test), you can use a face mask available at our clinic or purchase your own for $40.
If you’re taking the resting metabolic test, you must buy your hose, which costs around $12.
Avoid eating for at least four hours before any metabolic test.
Avoid caffeine for at least six hours before any metabolic test.
Do not exercise on the day of the test. In general, avoid exercise 12 to 24 hours before any metabolic test.
