Let's Move Run - Mt Clemens

What a Great Day to Get Moving in Mt. Clemens

This was the 3rd year that Total Health Systems sponsored a team of patients and employees to participate in the Let’s Move Festival of Races. The Let’s Move Festival of Races Macomb was organized to promote health and fitness for all Americans through a premier running event in Macomb County. The Macomb Health and Fitness Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, has an objective to promote healthy lifestyles throughout an individual’s lifetime. Proceeds generated from the event will be returned to the community through grants to civic and philanthropic organizations of Macomb County in support of healthy living education and physical fitness.

This year we had over 65 patients, employees, families and friends on our Total Health Team. All participants from our team get a moisture wicking tee shirt, training programs, online running tips, organized training runs, pre race workshop and after completing the race they can pick up a gift certificate for a free 30 minute massage.

From our Washington location you will see Dr. Jen and her husband running the 5k. Rachel Gooch and her son Wesley completed the 5k and Rachel was in the top 20 of her age group. Jeanine and her son Mike also did the 5k with ease, 13th in his age group. Massage therapist Beth Scheureman and her mom completed the 5k. Also completing the 5k with her two friends was our newest personal trainer, Barb McGuire.

Garfield employees included personal trainers Laurie Nuyens, Michelle Thom and her whole family. Both Laurie and Michelle Thom’s daughter Kayle placed 3rd in their age groups and Michelle was in the top 10. Diane Delf, our director of wellness and weight management along with her daughters(and her daughters bridal party), granddaughter, and son all ran the 5k. Many of the Delf family also took home awards for their age groups.

We had a handful of patients that did the half marathon. Crissi Zito of Chicago, who used to do one to one personal training with Laurie came back to Michigan to run this race and ran a personal best in the half marathon. Stacey Ostermeyer, also a personal training client of Laurie’s ran her first 5k last year at this event and this year trained for the half marathon. Stacy was ready to walk around the 12 mile mark when she saw a hill up ahead. But then she saw Laurie and heard her cheering and knew she could not walk now.

We are so proud of all our patients that participated! Be sure to stop by the clinic and get your gift certificate for your massage.

Check out the pictures we took, you will see some familiar faces and if you participated we may have even caught you running.
