Have extra clothes and shoes in your car, ready to go!
You never know when you might have a chance to get a run in. So it’s a good idea to have a bag packed in your car with running clothes and shoes. Diane, our Wellness coordinator is always ready to go by having her bag packed and extra shoes in her car. As we start to have more and more nice days, be ready to head out to your favorite metro park or track and get run in. Even on those really busy days sometimes you may find you don’t time to go home but you will arrive early for your next appointment, change your clothes and go for a quick run. Even if it’s only 20 min it’s better than nothing and way betting then just sitting checking Facebook.

Run in the morning. Runners like running in the morning because then you feel like you have gained an hour. There is no pressure to sneak a run in before other family obligations. People who work out in the morning are more consistent compared to others. Even if you are not typically a morning runner doing on the days were you wont have time later in the day is one of the best feelings in the world.

Change your workouts. Not every day should be the same route, same pace. Find hills, do track workouts. And don’t run every day. Add some cross training or strength training. (Hint, Hint, We offer ZUMBA, cardio kickboxing, Yoga, and bootcamp for $5 a class. And our TRX class on Mondays at 5:15 and Thursday at 7:15 is great strength training for runners.)

Surround yourself with inspiration. Running books, magazines, race photos etc. can placed prominent places in your home, office and car. Put the running quote book in the bathroom. Put race photos as your screen saver.

Write a desire statement. Write on an index card the reason you run, why you committed to this event on April 27. I run because————Read your statement every morning, put a copy in your car, on your computer, etc.

Visualize a successful run. When you don’t feel like it, imagine or remember a good run. See yourself with smile on your face how smooth and light you feel on your feet.

Are you still reading, you’re not out the door yet? Hope to see everyone Saturday March 30, 9:00 am at the Chesterfield office.
