Thinking about R2R?
Have you been thinking about participating in the Romeo2Richmond races? (aka R2R) Before you know it Sept 14 will be here? In fact it already feels like fall for many of us on Southeast Michigan. It is still summer and you still have time to get involved in R2R.
R2R is a fairly new event in the area but for many it is has become a fall tradition.
R2R raises money to for food banks in Macomb County, so you can feel good knowing your are races to help our community.
Each race takes place on a paved path that is well shaded by beautiful trees.
There are 3 events to choose from. The 5k, which is 3.1 miles. You are welcome to run or walk, or run/walk. Then is there is relay. You and a buddy split the half marathon course in half, each of you runs half of the half marathon, which is a little over 6 miles. Then of course there is the half marathon, 13.1 miles.
It’s not late too get yourself prepared for any of these events. You have about 6 weeks till race day. If you are thinking about the half marathon you should be able to run at 8-9 miles right now. If you are not there yet, I caution you that increasing mileage too quickly can lead to injury and a decrease performance. If you are can run 3 miles, why not find a buddy and train for the half relay. You have time to increase your mileage to 6 miles before Sept. 14.
You have 6 weeks to prepare for the 5k. Just give yourself 3x week and you can train to finish that 5k with a smile on your face.
Still not sure, Total Health Systems has free training programs available, just ask!
